Too Much Candy!

We ended up with a ton of leftover candy :(

The neighborhood was nuts, as long as you lived on the first two streets. We live on the third street. The difference when you turned the corner to walk to our street was astounding. It was completely empty. Like ghost town empty. We got a few trick-or-treaters early on, all of whom, I’m happy to say, were very polite and well-behaved, and then a few older kids later on. I brought about 5 pounds of candy to work with me today.

Halloween

Having moved from an older, hillier, darker neighborhood where not many people trick-or-treated to a younger, flatter, sidewalk-ier, better lit neighborhood with lots of kids has us concerned about Halloween preparedness. We have no idea how much candy to buy.

On one hand, we hate to be the new guys who are unprepared and have to turn of the lights early. On the other, though, I don’t want to end up with 30 pounds of leftover candy in the house because I lack the willpower to let it sit there uneaten. If we end up overstocked with candy, our last trick-or-treater may end up with a whole bunch of candy dumped in his or her bag.

House Buying

We’ve found a house and are in the process of purchasing it. I just met the inspector who gave the house a clean bill of health. The inspector was really awesome and thorough. If you’re ever in the market for a home inspection in the Birmingham area, give Chris at A Closer Look a call.

House Shopping

It looks like we’re going to have to move out of our rental house pretty soon, so we’re house shopping. We thought about building on some land we have in Alabaster, but houses are so cheap right now, it seems like we’d get a lot more for our money buying a house rather than building.
